2011 Katigbawan Festival
The municipality of Catigbian celebrated the 7th Katigbawan Festival in commemoration of the 62nd Foundation Day of the town on June 15-17, 2011. The 3-day long festival showcases Catigbian’s rich culture and heritage through different activities participated in by the God-loving and peace-loving Catigbianons. Several activities are lined up during the three-day affair: Agricultural Fair, Carabao Racing & Pageant, Street Dancing, Karambola, the Search for Miss Katigbawan 2011, launching & blessing of our local tourism dubbed as “G.R.E.A.T CATIGBIAN” which means “Green Recreational Eco-Adventure Tour” at our “Catigbian D.A.T.E Park which stands for “Dagook Adventure Tour Experience” and culminated with a fireworks display.
The festival was started with a thanksgiving mass at the Immaculate Conception Church where Rev. Fr. Danny Maniwan celebrated the mass along with the LGU family, the barangay officials, national agencies employees, DepEd family, teachers and students from the different schools. A parade followed after the mass going the Catigbian Livestock Auction Center where the Agri-Fair Display booths were in placed.

Ribbon Cutting of the Agri-Fair Display/Opening Program
Department of Agriculture – Reg. VII , Regional Director Leo P. Cañeda did the ribbon cutting with municipal officials headed by Mayor Salinas and guests from the provincial government , national agencies and from the private sectors. PhilHealth ID’s and MDR’s were distributed to indigents beneficiaries during the opening program and land titles for the LAMP 2 project beneficiaries.
Karambola
The traditional karambola was conducted in three (3) separate schedules; June 15, 2011 @ 1:00 pm for the 22 Barangay Captains; June 16, 2011 @ 1:00 pm for the Barangay Livestock Aide (BALA) and June 17, 2011 @ 6:00 pm for the SB Members, Department Heads both for the municipal & national agencies of LGU. The karambola is conducted at the Catigbian Sports & Cultural Complex.
Carabao Racing and Pageant
The activity was actively participated by the 22 barangays of the municipality. There was a competition for the heaviest carabao conducted at the Catigbian Livestock Auction Center before the parade. One carabao for each barangay dressed with their assign color participated in the parade and pageant. Carabao representing barangay Causwagan Norte garnered most of the awards during the competition.
Search for Miss Katigbawan 2011
Seventeen lovely candidates vied for the Miss Katigbawan 2011 representing the 12 barangays and 1 secondary school. Talent night presentation was on June 15, 2011 where Mrs. Fe Gracia S. Inting, Rev. Fr. Danny Maniwan and Mr. Florencio Halasan, Jr. judged the performance of the candidates and Ms. Maricel Tesorio and Mr. Lope Hubac hosted the talent show. The following night June 16, 2011 was the pageant and coronation of the Miss Katigbawan 2011.
Ms. SHEREEN ALAINAH C. ACUNA was adjudged as the Miss Katigbawan 2011. Runners up , minor and special awards are as follow:

The pageant night was hosted by Mr. Raul Gatal and the board of judges were Ms. Josie Montes, Mr. Edward Joseph Relampagos, Mr. Ed Roderick Canuto, Dra. Virgilia S. Redulla and Ms. Mildred Kascher. This search for Miss Katigbawan 2011 is choreographed and directed by Dennis Walton Balbero.
